The Survivor’s Law

Sign the petition https://www.change.org/survivorslaw As a some people may know since March last year our co-founders have been fighting the man who sexually abused them in the high court. He was trying to silence them after they spoke out online about the abuse they had experienced and named him as the perpetrator. So far, none … Continue reading The Survivor’s Law →

Breaking My Silence by Freddie Cocker

Whether it happened in Year 4 or Year 5 is something I can’t pinpoint exactly, nor the day it happened nor the week, month or even year. All I know is that it happened between 2002-2003.

Today our co-founders are in the news. Thank you to Victoria Derbyshire and Harriet Wistrich at Centre for Women's Justice for giving this story air time on BBC2 this morning and a huge thank you to Meg Fisher for taking the time and care to tell our story, working with us for 2 years and supporting us the whole way. You can watch the interview on the BBC website or via the news app. #believesurvivors #supportsurvivors #endtheinjustice #endviolenceagainstwomen
We have updated this graphic for 2021 to include the recent fall in charge and prosecution rates. *Some facts about rape. These statistics bust the myth that rape is committed by strangers in a dark alley. 90% of sexual assaults are committed by someone known to the victim prior to the assault, usually a former or current partner, a family member or other known person. 88% of sexual assault victims are women. These statistics also illustrate how rape is effectively decriminalised with only 1% of offenders being prosecuted. It is also worth noting that 94% of victims will experience PTSD and victims are 10 times more likely to attempt suicide as a result of the assault. This is why it is so important that we support survivors. It is thought that as little as 0.62% of reported allegations are false and so 99.48% of cases are legitimate- this is why we must always believe survivors, not doing so risks siding with the abuser which further impacts the victim.*
Currently in England and Wales the prosecution rate for rape cases stands at an all time low of 1%. 99% of reported cases will not receive a prosecution. Only 15-17% will report, of those only 0.62% are thought to be false so how many rapist's are walking around in your town?
